Freelance Writer & Illustrator for books, pamphlets, leaflets etc. Illustrations are serious or fun, colour or black and white depending on customer requirements. Nature Trails and farm diversification projects also undertaken.

Green Tourist Guide with many years experience leading walks in Devon and on Exmoor. Customer care comes first. Customers are from all walks of life.

Nature Photographer with 5000 stock of British Wildlife & Habitats colour transparencies 35mm. Also available on disk.

European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) acquired 2007.

Wrote the Westcountry regional Library Services Wildlife Information sheets on a bi-monthly basis, as part of the Western Morning News wildlife project for its readers throughout the region, i.e. Cornwall. Devon, Somerset and Dorset.

Illustrates a storyboard for Dartmoor News Magazine, "Bod Comes to Dartmoor" (2008). Based on the legendary big-cats roaming the countryside. www.dartmoornews.co.uk.

Formerly edited ‘Athene’ for many years, our own non-profit making magazine based on Cryptozoology, Cryptobotany, Ghosts, Leys, other natural phenomena.  Athene was a pet project produced to bring like minded people together to revive old folk tales, and to discuss theories that may be scientifically proven one day…..  Athene was sent all over the world and was discontinued due to its success, we worked on it voluntarily to keep costs down, but costs increased dramatically!

Led ‘Radio Walks’ for BBC Radio Devon for several weeks alternating with Trevor Beer.

 

Poetry.

‘Behind The Veil’ was published in a book called ‘Whispering Winds’ by Poetry Today  .

‘The Countryside’ was published in another anthology called ‘South West 1997’ by ‘Poetry Now’.

‘A Tale From A Harvest Mouse’ was published by The International Library of Poetry in an anthology entitled ‘The Star Laden Sky’. (1997)

‘Love?’ was accepted for ‘Honoured Poets of 1998’ also by the International Library of Poetry.

‘The Weather Fairy’ was published by ‘Poetry Today’ in ‘The Natural Word’. (1998)

‘Castle Mound’ was chosen by The North Devon Hospice to feature in their calendar for the March, 2003 page. This competition was sponsored by Banbury’s.

Some of the above won prizes.

Awards;

First recipient of the Richard Fitter Memorial Medal, received at the British Naturalists Association's Annual conference in London, from his son Professor Alastair Fitter in 2008, for personal work illustrating and writing field guides with families in mind.

The Cashmore Silver Cup from the North Devon Conservation Society. (1985)

Television South West’s (TSW) Young Person Of The Month Award (July) for work in Nature Conservation. (1991)

Donated ‘The Endymion Shield For Wildlife’ as the annual award for young people in North Devon. (NDCS) an award still prestigiously sought after today.
